In Particle and Nuclear Physics research and related applications, organicscintillators provide a cost-effective technology for the detection of ionisingradiation. The next generation of experiments in this field is drivingfundamental research and development on these materials, demanding improvedlight yield, radiation hardness, and fast response. Common materials such asPEN and PET have been found to offer scintillation properties competitive tocommercial alternatives without the use of dopants. Motivated by theircomplementarity in terms of light yield, radiation hardness, and response time,there is an increasing interest in investigating PET:PEN mixtures to ascertainwhether they exhibit synergistic blending. This paper presents results from thesystematic development of samples of PET, PEN, and PET:PEN mixtures with variedmass proportions. The manufacturing technique, involving injection moulding ofgranule raw material, is detailed. The effects of doping the polymer basesubstrate with fluorescent dopants are explored. Finally, the emission spectraof the different material compositions and their relative light output arepresented.
