The search of the new physics~(NP) beyond the Standard Model is one of themost important topics in current high energy physics research. With theincreasing luminosities at the colliders, the search for NP signals requiresthe analysis of more and more data, and the efficiency in data processingbecomes particularly important. As a machine learning algorithm, the supportvector machine~(SVM) is expected to be useful in the search of NP, meanwhile,has the potential to be accelerated with the help of quantum computing. How touse the SVM to optimize an event selection strategy to search for NP signals isstudied in this paper. Taking the tri-photon process at a muon collider as anexample, it can be shown that the event selection strategy optimized by the SVMis effective in the search of the dimension-8 operators contributing to theanomalous quartic gauge couplings.
