We introduce a simple model for predicting the free space loss of a LIDARsensor aimed at a Lambertianscattering target at normal incidence. This modelis validated through an experimental investigation of the coupled optical powerusing different optical collimators for a LIDAR sensor in which we observe goodagreement with our model.
