The paper proposes an acceleration effect that a local short-timeacceleration produces an additional broadening to spectral line, while thecentral value of the line remains unaffected. The effect can be considered as alocal and non-uniform generalization of Unruh effect. Although theacceleration-induced line broadening effect is too small to be measured inordinary lab setup, it may offer us a key concept to gain a simple and unifiedperspective on the cosmic acceleration and the radial acceleration discrepancyof rotation galaxies without introducing any missing energy and matter in theuniverse. We find that the measurement of the acceleration of the cosmicexpansion by fitting the distance-redshift relation is essentially themeasurement of the line or redshift broadening, and the cosmic accelerationinduced line broadening also plays a crucial role in the accelerationdiscrepancy at the outskirt of rotating galaxies. Possible predictions of theeffect are also discussed.
