Amplification (mitigation) is the increase (decrease) in the change ofthermodynamic quantities when an initial thermal state is thermalized to adifferent temperature in the presence of constraints, studied thus far only forpermutationally invariant baths. In this manuscript, we generalizeamplification and mitigation to accommodate generic strong symmetries of openquantum systems and connect the phenomenon to Landauer's erasure. We exemplifyour general theory with a new bath-induced battery charging protocol thatovercomes the passivity of KMS-preserving transitions.
