It is shown that the description of the solar cycle that takes into accountthe odd zonal harmonic of the solar magnetic field allows us to deepen ourknowledge of two important aspects of the solar activity. First, to clarify andexpand predictions of the evolution of the cyclic activity of the Sun in thenear future. Second, to develop a program for monitoring the spectrophotometriccharacteristics of radiation of the solar-type stars aimed at obtaining newinformation about their magnetic fields.
