We investigate the structural and dynamic properties of active Brownianparticles (APs) confined within a soft annulus-shaped channel. Depending on thestrength of the confinement and the P\'eclet number, we observe a novelre-entrant behavior that is not present in unconfined systems. Our findings aresubstantiated by numerical simulations and analytical considerations, revealingthat this behavior arises from the strong coupling between the P\'eclet numberand the effective confining dimensionality of the APs. Beyond highlighting theimportant influence of soft boundaries on APs, our research holds significancefor future applications of micro-robotic systems.
