Linear position interpolation helps pre-trained models using rotary positionembeddings (RoPE) to extrapolate to longer sequence lengths. We propose usinglinear position interpolation to extend the extrapolation range of models usingAttention with Linear Biases (ALiBi). We find position interpolationsignificantly improves extrapolation capability on upstream language modellingand downstream summarization and retrieval tasks.
