As the high penetration of wind and photovoltaic distributed generation (DG)in the microgrid, the stochastic and low inertia emerge, bringing morechallenges especially when the microgrid operates in isolated islands.Nevertheless, the reserve power of DGs in deloading control mode can beutilized for frequency regulation and mitigating frequency excursion. Thispaper proposed a model predictive control (MPC) secondary frequency controlmethod considering wind and solar power generation stochastics. The extendedstate-space matrix including unknown stochastic power disturbance isestablished, and a Kalman filter is used to observe the unknown disturbance.The maximum available power of wind and solar DGs is estimated for establishingreal-time variable constraints that prevent DGs output power from exceeding thelimits. Through setting proper weight coefficients, wind and photovoltaic DGsare given priority to participate in secondary frequency control. Thedistributed restorative power of each DG is obtained by solving the quadraticprogramming(QP) optimal problem with variable constraints. Finally, a microgridsimulation model including multiple PV and wind DGs is built and performed invarious scenarios compared to the traditional secondary frequency controlmethod. The simulation results validated that the proposed method can enhancethe frequency recovery speed and reDGce the frequency deviation, especially insevere photovoltaic and wind fluctuations scenarios.
