The present work investigates the effect of an external rotating magneticfield on a magnetic needle, and aims to study chaotic behaviour. The equationof motion is modified to include damping and gravity. The bifurcation behaviourof such evolving systems is also studied. Furthermore, the coupling in pairs ofmagnetic needles is also analyzed. In addition, a 2-dimensional array ofcoupled needles is set up, and the synchronization properties of the populationis studied. The study is completed by carrying out an investigation of theeffects of noise on the synchronization of such a system.
