The scattering of scalar waves by a set of scatterers is considered. It isproven that the scattered field can be represented as the integral of a densityover an arbitrary smooth surface enclosing the scatterers. This is ageneralization of the series expansion over spherical harmonics and sphericalBessel functions for spherical geometries. It allows an extension of the FastMultiple Algorithm to non spherical domains.
