Acoustic metamaterials, particularly the topological insulators, exhibitexceptional wave characteristics that have sparked considerable researchinterest. The study of imperfect interfaces affect is of significant importancefor the modeling of wave propagation behavior in topological insulators. Thispaper models a soft Rayleigh beam system with imperfect interfaces, andinvestigates its topological phase transition process tuned by mechanicalloadings. The model reveals that the topological phase transition process canbe observed by modifying the distance between imperfect interfaces in thesystem. When a uniaxial stretch is applied, the topological phase transitionpoints for longitudinal waves decrease within a limited frequency range, whilethey increase within a larger frequency scope for transverse waves. Enhancingthe rigidity of the imperfect interfaces also enables shifting of thetopological phase transition point within a broader frequency range forlongitudinal waves and a confined range for transverse waves. The transition oftopologically protected interface modes in the transmission performance of atwenty-cell system is verified, which include altering frequencies, switchingfrom interface mode to edge mode. Overall, this study provides a new approachand guideline for controlling topological phase transition in composite andsoft phononic crystal systems.
