Dense bacterial suspensions display collective motion exhibiting coherentflow structures reminiscent of turbulent flows. In contrast to inertialturbulence, understanding the microscopic dynamics of bacterial fluid elementsundergoing collective motion is in its incipient stages. Here, we reportexperiments revealing correlations between the microscopic dynamics and theemergence of collective motion in bacterial suspensions. Our detailed analysisof the passive tracers and the velocity field of the bacterial suspensionsallowed us to systematically correlate the Lagrangian and the Eulerianperspectives. Bacteria within the collective dynamics revealed initialballistic dynamics followed by intermittent L\'evy walk before the eventualdecay to random Gaussian fluctuations. Intriguingly, the persistence length andtime of the fluid motion decrease with an increase in the activity, which, inturn, reduces the duration of L\'evy walk. Our results reveal transitions inmicroscopic dynamics underlying the bacterial turbulence and their control viathe intrinsic time scales set by the effective activity of the flow.
