We propose a cryptography-inspired model for nonlocal correlations. Followingthe celebrated De Broglie-Bohm theory, we model nonlocal boxes as realisticsystems with instantaneous signalling at the hidden variable level. Byintroducing randomness in the distribution of the hidden variable, thesuperluminal signalling model is made compatible with the operationalno-signalling condition. As the design mimics the famous symmetric keyencryption system called {\it One Time Pads} (OTP), we call this the OTP modelfor nonlocal boxes. We demonstrate utility of this model in several esotericexamples related to the nonclassicality of nonlocal boxes. In particular, thebreakdown of communication complexity using nonlocal boxes can be betterunderstood in this framework. Furthermore, we discuss the Van Dam protocol andshow its connection to homomorphic encryption in cryptography. We also discusspossible ways of encapsulating quantum realizable nonlocal correlations withinthis framework and show that the principle of Information Causality imposesfurther constraints at the hidden variable level. Present work thusorchestrates the results in classical cryptography to improve our understandingof nonlocal correlations and welcomes further research to this connection.
