In this paper we give a possible explanation of the giant temperature peak inthe temperature dependence of the amplitude of the dHvA oscillationsexperimentally observed in heavy fermion SmB$_6$ compound. We propose atheoretical model when two species of fermions, one much heavier than the otherand both with electron-like dispersing energy bands, although hybridize to openup an energy gap at their degeneracy point, but nevertheless keep the systemmetallic with a heavy fermion hybrid at the Fermi energy. It is shown that theheavy fermion hybrid oscillates in the dHvA effect not only with its own Fermisurface, but also with a surface which does not correspond to any existingfermion state. The experiment suggests that the values are such that thesurface of the cross-section of the fermion energy bands before they hybridizeapproximately equals to the Fermi surface of this unexisting fermion stateafter the hybridization. It is exactly this heavy fermion hybrid which resultsin the giant temperature peak. In addition we suggest a condition under whichthis heavy fermion hybrid will have edge states. A number of new signatures forthe experiments to look for in order to confirm or rule out our explanation isgiven.
