Quality control in the manufacturing industry has improved with the use ofartificial intelligence (AI). However, the manual inspection of trimming diedesigns, which is time-consuming and prone to errors, is still done byengineers. This study introduces an automatic design inspection system forautomobile trimming dies by integrating AI modules and computer-aided design(CAD) software. The AI modules replace engineers' judgment, and the CADsoftware carries out operations requested by the AI modules. The inspectionprocess involves a zigzag interaction between the AI modules and CAD software,enabling one-click operation without expert intervention. The AI modules areCAD-independent and data-efficient, making them adaptable to other CADsoftware. They achieve high performance even with limited training data, withan average length measurement error of only 2.4%. The inspection time isreduced to approximately one-fifth of the time required for manual inspectionby experts.
