Light drives offer a potential tool for the dynamical control of magneticinteractions in matter. We theoretically investigate the indirect exchangecoupling between two parallel chains of magnetic impurities on the surface of atopological insulator, driven by a time-periodic circularly polarized lightfield in the high-frequency, off-resonant, regime. We derive a closed-formanalytic expression for the spin susceptibility of the photon-dressedtopological insulator surface states and obtain the irradiation dependence ofthe Ising, Heisenberg, and Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya exchange couplings between theimpurity chains. Our results show a two-pronged modification of these exchangecouplings by periodic drives. First, the RKKY oscillation period of theexchange couplings can be extended by enhancing the driving strength. Secondly,increasing driving strength enhances the envelope of RKKY oscillations of theHeisenberg-type while suppressing those of the Ising-type andDzyaloshinsky-Moriya-type. Our work provides useful insights for realizingFloquet engineering of collinear and non-collinear indirect exchangeinteractions in topological insulating systems.
