In the present work, we examine the role of nonlinearity in vibrationalresonance (VR) of a forced and damped form of a velocity-dependent potentialsystem. Many studies have focused on studying the vibrational resonance indifferent potentials, like bistable potential, asymmetrically deformedpotential, and rough potential. In this connection, velocity-dependentpotential systems are very important from a physical point of view (Ex:pion-pion interaction, cyclotrons and other electromagnetic devices influencedby the Lorentz force, magnetrons, mass spectrometers). They also appear inseveral mechanical contexts. In this paper, we consider a nonlinear dynamicalsystem with velocity-dependent potential along with additional damping anddriven forces, namely a particle moving on a rotating-parabola system, andstudy the effect of two-frequency forcing with a wide difference in thefrequencies. We report that the system exhibits vibrational resonance in acertain range of nonlinear strength. Using the method of separation of motions(MSM), an analytical equation for the slow oscillations of the system isobtained in terms of the parameters of the fast signal. The analyticalcomputations and the numerical studies concur well.
