We present an analysis of recent experiments in femtoscopy by the STARcollaboration in terms of the protocol of entanglement witnessing involvingpurity measurements. The entanglement is between the charge and momentumdegrees of freedom of pions and the state purity measurements ultimately relyon the bosonic nature of the detected pions. The pion experiment is intended tomeasure the size of nuclei and the distance between the nuclei involved,however it indirectly confirms that the states of differently charged pions areentangled through an entanglement witness based on the purity of various pionicstates. The entangled state of pions can be modelled straightforwardlydynamically using a simple Hamiltonian. Quantum indistinguishability plays akey role in this analysis and we make comparison with the equivalent photonicexperiments.
