Vector optical vortices exhibit complex polarisation patterns due to theinterplay between spin and orbital angular momenta. Here we demonstrate, bothanalytically and with simulations, that certain polarisation features ofoptical vortex beams maintain constant transverse spatial dimensionsindependently of beam divergence due to diffraction. These polarisationfeatures appear in the vicinity of the phase singularity and are associatedwith the presence of longitudinal electric fields. The predicted effect mayprove important in metrology and high resolution imaging applications.
