Traversability in relation with tides in thin-shell wormholes is revisited toinvestigate the possibility of improving recently noted restrictive conditionsfor a safe travel across a wormhole throat. We consider wormholesmathematically constructed starting from background geometries which aresolutions of scalar-tensor theories as dilaton gravity and Brans--Dickegravity. The advantages of working within such frameworks are studied byexamining the dependence of the extrinsic curvature and tides at the throatwith the parameters determining the departure from pure relativity; theassociated behaviour of tides in the smooth regions of the geometries is alsoanalyzed. Other related but different approaches are briefly discussed in theappendices.

Further considerations about the traversability of thin-shell wormholes
