In this paper, an improved multi-step finite control set model predictivecurrent control (FCS-MPCC) strategy with speed loop disturbance compensation isproposed for permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drives system. Amulti-step prediction mechanism is beneficial to significantly improve thesteady-state performance of the motor system. While the conventional multi-stepprediction has the defect of heavy computational burden, an improved multi-stepfinite control set model predictive current control (IM MPCC) strategy isproposed by developing a new multi-step prediction mechanism. Furthermore, inorder to improve the dynamic response of the system, a disturbance compensation(DC) mechanism based on an extended state observer (ESO) is proposed toestimate and compensate the total disturbance in the speed loop of the PMSMsystem. Both simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness ofthe proposed control strategy.
