A new approach to the longitudinal vane modulation profile in a RadioFrequency Quadrupole (RFQ) has been discovered that significantly improvesbunching and longitudinal emittance control. This procedure has beensuccessfully tested in different RFQ models with satisfactory reduction of thelongitudinal emittance; thus, this advanced method can be implemented for anyRFQ. Highlights:  Advanced longitudinal vane modulation profile that improves bunching andlongitudinal emittance control.
