Most of the exotic hadrons discovered over the last 20 years fit nicely intothe quark model as normal mesons and baryons if the existence of a seventhflavor of quark is hypothesized. For the quark to reproduce the mass, spin,parity, production and decay modes of exotic hadrons, it would have to have amass of $\sim$2.8 GeV, a charge of $-\tfrac{1}{3}$, and a W-boson-mediatedinteraction with the right-chiral component of the charm quark. The theoryinvolving such a quark would ultimately have to show that it can reproduce allof the experimental data that are well explained by the Standard Model. As afirst step toward that goal, this paper qualitatively argues how the 7-quarkmodel could potentially reproduce a handful of experiments that would seeminglyrule it out. It also makes many predictions that could be verified or falsifiedby current experiments.
