We investigate the possible entropic nature of the force responsible for thediscrepancy between the observed galactic rotation curves and those expectedfrom the distribution of visible matter in the galaxy. Observations from theSpitzer Photometry and Accurate Rotation Curves (SPARC) data base are used tostudy the adequacy of the proposed models. A concrete model derived from asimple solution of the Fokker-Planck equation is used to fit SPARC data,resulting in strong agreement with observations compared to the popular darkmatter NFW mass profile. We also show that correlations exist between aparameter of the proposed model and the flat velocity as well as the Luminosityat 3.6 $\mu$m of the sample of galaxies.
