A set of electromagnetic formulations with gyrokinetic ions and drift kineticelectrons for global gyrokinetic simulations is presented. Low freuqncyelectromagnetic modes like drift-waves, AEs and MHD modes can be simulatedusing this framework. In the long wavelength and low frequency limit, ideal MHDequations and dispersion relation are found. Especially, the magneticcompressional term and the equilibrium current are carefully kept in thismodel. This model is successfully used to simulate the internal kink modes inDIII-D tokamaks.
