In this work, we consider the implementation of $U(1)_{L_e-L_j}$ gaugesymmetry, where $(j= \mu, \tau)$, to study the neutrino phenomenology withinthe framework of type-(I+II) seesaw. The model involves three right-handedneutrinos along with a scalar triplet in addition to the standard modelparticle spectrum. With the assigned charges under new $U(1)$, the neutrinomass matrix is found to acquire a two-zero texture and thus, turns out to bequite helpful in explaining the neutrino oscillation parameters and alsoaccommodating the effective electron neutrino mass ($m_{ee}$) in neutrinolessdouble beta decay. We also briefly discuss the lepton flavor violating decays:$\mu\to e\gamma$, $\tau \to e \gamma$ and $\tau \to \mu \bar \mu \mu$. Finally,we shed light on the recent measurement of muon $g-2$.
