The holographic state of matter exists in the quantum gravitational regime,with black holes as the example. In this essay, we provide a microscopicderivation to the holographic thermodynamics and further discuss itsimplications for quantum gravity. Especially, we establish the link betweenholographic entropy and dimensional reduction. It seems that the fundamentalphysics behind black holes and the very early universe is $1+1$ dimensional.
