This paper investigates prefrontal cortex (PFC) functional connectivity basedon synchronized electrical and hemodynamic responses associated with mentalstress. The electrical response was based on alpha rhythmic ofElectroencephalography (EEG) signals and the hemodynamic responses were basedon the mean concentrations of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin measuredusing functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS). The aim is to explore theeffects of stress on the inter and intra hemispheric PFC functionalconnectivity at narrow and wide frequency bands with 8- 13 Hz in EEG and0.009-0.1Hz in fNIRS signals. The results demonstrated significantly reduce inthe functional connectivity on the dorsolateral PFC within the inter and intrahemispheric PFC areas based in EEG alpha rhythmic and fNIRS oxygenated anddeoxygenated hemoglobin. The statistical analysis further demonstrated rightdorsolateral dominant to mental stress.
