A stepped frequency ground penetrating radar (GPR) system is used fordetecting objects buried under high permittivity soil. Different intermediatefrequency bandwidth (IFBW) of the mixing receiver is used and measurementresults are compared. It is shown that the IFBW can affect the system'ssignal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Experimental results show that objects ofdifferent materials can clearly be detected when the appropriate IFBW is used.
