Algae cultivation is an active area of study for carbon sequestration, whilethe large amount of produced algae must be upcycled. In the current study, wefabricated artificial timber based on algae filler, with only 2~4% epoxybinder. The flexural strength could be comparable with those of softwoods. Thebinder was efficiently dispersed in the algae phase through diluent-aidedcompaction self-assembly. The important processing parameters included thebinder content, the filler morphology, the compaction pressure, the diluentratio, and the curing condition. This research not only is critical to carbonsequestration, but also helps reduce the consumption of conventionalconstruction materials.
