This paper introduces an open-source software for distributed anddecentralized non-convex optimization named ALADIN-$\alpha$. ALADIN-$\alpha$ isa MATLAB implementation of tailored variants of the Augmented LagrangianAlternating Direction Inexact Newton (ALADIN) algorithm. Its user interface isconvenient for rapid prototyping of non-convex distributed optimizationalgorithms. An improved version of the recently proposed bi-level variant ofALADIN is included enabling decentralized non-convex optimization with reducedinformation exchange. A collection of examples from different applicationsfields including chemical engineering, robotics, and power systems underpinsthe potential of ALADIN-$\alpha$.
