All the previous studies on photonic tunneling are just based on a simple anddirectly analogy with a one-dimensional quantum-mechanical tunneling, withouttaking into account the horizontal structure of electromagnetic waves along thewaveguide, such that they are oversimplified and incomplete. Here we present amore serious deliberation on photonic tunneling through cut-off waveguides, andobtain a strictly theoretical model with some new results.
