Multifractality is one of the patterns observed in spatial distributions ofpopulations. In this study, we performed multifractal analysis for populationsby age group in the capital area of Japan. Each population group generallyexhibited the property of densely populated locations being relativelyconnected to each other. We also investigated the dependence of multifractalityon the age group. Multifractal measures showed that the group consisting ofyoung working-age people exhibits strong heterogeneity and concentration ofpopulation, while the population consisting of elder people exhibits arelatively homogeneous nature.
