In this manuscript we demonstrate the skyrmion formation in ultrathinnanodots using magnetic force microscopy tip. Submicron-size dots based onPt/Co/Au multilayers hosting interfacial Dzyaloshiskii-Morya interaction wereused in the experiments. We have found that the tip field generated by themagnetic tip significantly affects the magnetization state of the nanodots andleads to the formation of skyrmions. Micromagnetic simulations explain theevolution of the magnetic state during magnetic force microscopy scans andconfirm the possibility of the skyrmion formation. The key transition in thisprocess is the formation of the horseshoe magnetic domain. We have found thatformation of skyrmion by the magnetic probe is a reliable and repetitiveprocedure. Our findings provide a simple solution for skyrmions formation innanodots.
