In this paper we give a brief overview of our approaches and ongoing work forfuture directions of the Internet of Things (IoT) with a focus on the IoT inthe home. We highlight some of our activities including tools and methods foran ideation-driven approach as well as for an implications-driven approach. Wepoint to some findings of workshops and empirical field-studies. We showexamples for new classes of idiosyncratic IoT devices, how implications emergeby (mis)using sensor data and how users interacted with IoT systems in sharedspaces.
