We discuss the irreversible free expansion phenomenon for Yukawa gas andobtain the corresponding change in temperature of the gas. In our expansionscheme, the system is not allowed to exchange heat with surroundings duringfree expansion, therefore, present expansion scheme refers to adiabatic freeexpansion. Using first principle classical Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulationwith reflecting boundary conditions, we show that the Yukawa gases exhibitsheating effect during the process of adiabatic free expansion. We also obtainthe scaling for change in temperature and establish that the change intemperature is directly proportional to the change in number density of gas.The scaling for temperature is also obtained analytically taking the mean fieldlimit of thermodynamic model proposed by Avinash. The simulation results areconsistent with the analytical results.
