Next-generation spintronic applications require material properties that canbe hardly met by one material candidate. Here we demonstrate that by combininginsulating and metallic magnets, enhanced spin-charge conversion andenergy-efficient thermal spin currents can be realized. We develop a nanowiredevice consisting of an yttrium iron garnet and permalloy bi-layer. Aninterfacial temperature gradient drives the nanowire magnetization intoauto-oscillations at gigahertz frequencies. Interfacial spin coupling andmagnetoresistance of the permalloy layer translate spin dynamics into sizablemicrowave signals. The results show prospect for energy-efficient spintronicdevices and present an experimental realization of magnon condensation in aheterogeneous magnetic system.
