Multi-connectivity offers diversity in terms of multiple interfaces throughwhich the data can be sent, thereby improving simultaneously the overallreliability and latency. This makes interface diversity a natural candidate forsupporting Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC). This workinvestigates how the packet error statistics from different interfaces impactsthe overall reliability-latency characteristics. We use the simpleGilbert-Elliott model for burst errors and estimate its parameters based onexperimental measurement traces from LTE and {Wi-Fi} packet transmissionscollected over several days. The results show that using interface diversityconfigurations that include at least one {Wi-Fi} interface leads to, somewhatsurprisingly, since Wi-Fi is generally less reliable than LTE, superior resultsin terms of packet success and error burst duration. Another interestingfinding is that {Wi-Fi}-based interface diversity configurations outperformeven ultra-reliable single links.
