A distortion-noise profile is a function indicating the maximum allowedsource distortion value for each noise level in the channel. In this paper, theminimum energy required to achieve a distortion noise profile is studied forGaussian sources which are transmitted robustly over Gaussian channels. Weprovide improved lower and upper bounds for the minimum energy behavior of thesquare-law profile using a family of lower bounds and our proposed codingscheme.
