In this paper we report on the details of the derivation of approximateclosed-form results related to the coherence effect in non-linear noiseaccumulation, in the context of the GN-model of fiber non-linearity. Thecoherence effect is particularly important in relation to the non-linearitynoise produced by a single transmission channel onto itself. We derive newresults, not shown before, that provide a more accurate representation ofcoherent accumulation of NLI than previous closed-form formulas. Theavailability of such closed-form formulas is important in the context ofreal-time management and optimization of physical-layer aware optical networks.

A Closed-Form GN-Model Non-Linear Interference Coherence Term
