We describe how the accurate characterization of exoplanetary atmospheres inthe ELT and JWST era will inevitably require taking into consideration thestellar inhomogeneities caused by convection and magnetic fields. The existingevidence that demonstrates the mixture of stellar and planetary signatures inobserved transiting spectra is presented. Finally, we discuss how todisentangle these two components through a multipronged approach that includesnew solar reference spectra, improved MHD modeling, and synergisticcollaborations between the communities involved, from solar to stellar andexoplanet astronomers.
