We provide a rigorous mathematical study of an asymptotic model describingDarcy flow with free boundary in a low amplitude/large wavelengthapproximation. In particular, we prove several well-posedness results incritical spaces. Furthermore, we also study how the solution decays towards theflat equilibrium.
