In practical situations, there are many dynamic covering information systemswith variations of attributes, but there are few studies on relatedfamily-based attribute reduction of dynamic covering information systems. Inthis paper, we first investigate updated mechanisms of constructing attributereducts for consistent and inconsistent covering information systems whenvarying attribute sets by using related families. Then we employ examples toillustrate how to compute attribute reducts of dynamic covering informationsystems with variations of attribute sets. Finally, the experimental resultsillustrates that the related family-based methods are effective to performattribute reduction of dynamic covering information systems when attribute setsare varying with time.
