New chaos-based communication schemes for transmission of analog and digitalinformation are suggested. The carrier signal is produced by chaotic generatorhaving well-defined oscillation phases at least on short time intervals. Fordata extraction, a special procedure of phase detection for chaotic signals isdeveloped. An efficiency of the scheme is demonstrated by examples of coupledgenerators of structurally stable (robust) chaos with hyperbolic attractors ofSmale-Williams and Arnold's "cat map" types. Robustness of the transmitter andthe receiver makes it possible to transmit information in presence of parametermismatch or additive noise in the communication channel.
