Acoustic imaging typically relies on large sensor arrays that can beelectronically complex and often have large data storage requirements toprocess element level data. Recently, the concept of a single-pixel-imager hasgarnered interest in the electromagnetics literature due to it's ability toform high quality images with a single receiver paired with shaped aperturescreens that allow for the collection of spatially orthogonal measurements.Here, we present a method for creating an acoustic analog to thesingle-pixel-imager found in electromagnetics. Additionally, diffraction isconsidered to account for screen openings comparable to the acousticwavelength. A diffraction model is presented and incorporated into the singlepixel framework. The method is experimentally validated with laboratorymeasurements made in air.
