To analyze the bacteriostatic effect of Chinese traditional herbal medicineson E. coli, total 35 different preparations (decoction, volatile oil anddistillate) of Chinese traditional herbal medicines were tested using plateculture method. The results showed that 18 preparations of traditional Chineseherbal medicines have different inhibition effect on E. coli in vitro. Theresults also revealed that different process and combination affect thebacteriostatic effect and different medicines could be used in singles orcombined to treat E.coli disease
