We present a novel extension of the path tracing algorithm that is capable oftreating highly scattering participating media in the presence of fluorescentstructures. The extension is based on the formulation of the full radiativetransfer equation when solved on a per-wavelength-basis, resulting in accuratemodel and unbiased algorithm for rendering highly scattering fluorescentparticipating media. The model accounts for the intrinsic properties offluorescent dyes including their absorption and emission spectra, molarabsorptivity and quantum yield and also their concentration. Our algorithm isapplied to render highly scattering isotropic fluorescent solutions underdifferent illumination conditions. The spectral performance of the model isvalidated against emission spectra of different fluorescent dyes that are ofsignificance in spectroscopy.
