A general virtual neutron experiment for TOF neutron reflectometer wasintroduced, including instrument simulation, sample modeling, detectorsimulation and data reduction to mimic the routine of real experimental processand data reduction. The reduced data fit quite well with the sample simulation,confirming the reliability of our algorithm and the smearing effect wasanalyzed. Methodology and algorithms developed in this study paves the way forthe future development of data processing and data reduction software for theTOF neutron reflectometers in China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). Detailsof the virtual experiment and performance of the instrument was demonstrated.
