We make a change of variable in the standard model Higgs field by a fermionoperator and show that the latter is responsible for the electroweak vacuum. Bycomputing the vacuum expectation value of this fermion operator in the pathintegral formalism we determine a relation among the quark vacuum condensates,the quark masses and the intrinsic scale of the theory. We show that the heavyquark vacuum condensates do not justify the hypothesis of dynamical electroweaksymmetry breaking with only standard model fermions.
